Week 7 - Wednesday

Todays discussion about the praxis model led me to think that maybe we have been putting the cart before the horse, so to speak. It seems that a lot of Churches believe they have to do Church right before they can do the mission work. This reveals the subtle yet unsettling dichotomy between what it means to do church and do ministry. How did we get here? Why has the institutional nature of what it means to do Church superceded what it means to be the Church? I think it's from this that we get the idea of having professional ministers who do the ministry while the lay people just finance it. The emergent Church and the conversation surrounding it seems to be addressing these kind of issues and pointing us to more of a praxis model.
